About the role Reduced is scaling its solid-state fermentation (SSF) platform from lab to production scale. We are seeking an SSF Engineer to lead the equipment, process control, and food-safety compliance aspects of this scale-up, working closely with our SSF Scientist and Operations team.ResponsibilitiesOperate and manage SSF systems (static tray, agitated bed, rotating drum, etc.) across lab, pilot, and production scales.Optimize engineering parameters including airflow, humidity, heat dissipation, and moisture management during scale-up.Commission and troubleshoot SSF equipment, including skid-mounted fermenters, PLC systems, and utility integrations.Implement food safety standards (HACCP, EHEDG) and develop sanitation/CIP protocols and allergen controls.Establish SOPs for SSF processes to ensure full traceability and regulatory compliance.Design substrate preparation lines to ensure uniform fermentation inputs.Perform root cause analysis on process deviations and troubleshoot production runs.Ideal profile / QualificationsDegree in Process, Biochemical, or Food Engineering, or a related technical field.5+ years of industrial experience in SSF or comparable b1 …
